Energy

The energy system transformation requires a fundamental reorganisation of the way energy is produced and consumed. The target is to switch to 100 percent renewable energies – a major challenge for our society. However, numerous scenarios prove that such a change is realistic for Germany by 2050, not only technically but also economically – provided that the total demand for energy decreases significantly. The transformation of our energy system does not necessarily have to mean a loss of prosperity, but, if properly designed, offers opportunities for innovation, growth and social justice.

The consistent reduction of environmentally harmful subsidies and a more intelligent price and fiscal policy could open up new scope for financing the energy system transformation.
