Peter Ugolini-Schmidt has been working at EWS Elektrizitätswerke Schönau since 2018 and, as Head of Policy, is responsible for representing the interests of the cooperative energy supplier. He studied economics and political science and began his professional career in the public sector. For the past 15 years, he has held various positions in the field of energy and climate policy and the energy industry.

Most recently, he headed the electricity trading and distribution department at the Association of Municipal Companies (VKU). There, he worked on issues relating to electricity market design, balancing energy markets, direct marketing, CO2 pricing, flexibilization, and market communication. Prior to that, he worked at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) in climate policy strategy and policy consulting on several projects in Europe and the MENA region.
