Ralph Lenkert has been working as a freelancer since summer 2025 and has been a member of the Jena City Council since 2014. Prior to that, he was a member of the German Bundestag from 2009 to 2025, focusing on environmental, climate, and energy policy. He began his career as a toolmaker and mechanical engineer, developing axle springs and stabilizers at Mubea from 1996 to 1999, working as a quality manager in Czechia until 2002, and then as a development engineer for series production ramp-up at Carl Zeiss in Jena until 2009.
