Andreas Burger is an environmental economist with extensive experience in research, policy consulting, and administration. He studied economics, political science, and sociology at the University of Freiburg and joined the German Federal Environment Agency after completing his doctorate. From 1999 to 2023, he headed the department “Economic and Social Science Environmental Issues, Sustainable Consumption.” His work focused on the scientific basis and implementation of integrated strategies for linking environmental, economic, and social policy, the further development of economic instruments for environmental protection, and the reform of environmentally harmful subsidies.
