Environmental Financial Reform

With an environmental financial reform, we are using fiscal policy and taxation to redirect towards a sustainable and fair economy and society - by reducing subsidies that harm the environment and society, by placing our tax system on a broader basis and by making the consumption of resources and the burden on the climate more expensive. The additional revenue should be used sustainably for investments in the future and social justice.

Das FÖS hat im Auftrag von Greenpeace eine umfassende Studie zu den Subventionen für fossile Energien in Deutschland erstellt und dafür u.a. Daten der Organisation für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (OECD), der Internationalen Energie-Agentur (IEA) und des Internationalen Währungsfonds (IWF) analysiert. Unter der bewussten Verwendung eines weiteren Subventionsbegriffs als in offiziellen Berichten der Bundesregierung zeigt sich, dass der Wert bei 46 Mrd. Euro pro Jahr liegt. Die Studie soll als Vorbild für den angekündigten Bericht der Bundesregierung im Rahmen des G20-Prozesses dienen.
