Environmental Financial Reform

With an environmental financial reform, we are using fiscal policy and taxation to redirect towards a sustainable and fair economy and society - by reducing subsidies that harm the environment and society, by placing our tax system on a broader basis and by making the consumption of resources and the burden on the climate more expensive. The additional revenue should be used sustainably for investments in the future and social justice.

In diesem Forschungsbericht werden anhand einer umfassenden Literaturstudie 18 Handlungsfelder identifiziert, die Potenziale für eine Steigerung der Ressourceneffizienz bieten.
Die Analyse zeigt, dass vor allem zwei Hemmnisse für Ressourceneffizienz bestehen: (1) Die Möglichkeiten zur Externalisierung von Kosten bei ressourcenintensiven Produkten und damit verbunden fehlende Preissignale für ressourceneffiziente Alternativen und (2) Informationsdefizite entlang der Wertschöpfungsketten. Technische Lösungen sowie ressourceneffiziente Praktiken sind in vielen Bereichen bereits verfügbar. Es bedarf politisch gesetzter Anreize, um die Effizienzpotentiale zu heben.
